I reused the ideation of Mother Earth, for detail inscription please refer to Assignment 2 in the older post.
Baby and lamb were also ideations from the Assignment 2

The stars and the universe is used as a background to illustrate the Earth as a whole planet...in a motherly sort of way. It is a representation of the World.

The wordings are colored in blue in order to act as a contrast as well as bringing in harmony values

The other wordings are colored in greenish blue in order to represent forest and river.....as well as acting as a contrast to the background.

Design Fundamentals

What to say? = The importance of stopping deforestation
How to say it? = Illustrating Earth as a mother and we're her children, as well as relating the fact of deforestation as a manner of destroying the beauty of Mother Earth.

Elements of design

Line = Some lines are curvy whereas some lines are straight. All the lines combine together to form images just as shown in the poster. The letters were design in such a font to stress out the point.

Shape = The images hold the shapes of living things...yes including Mother Earth. Making it stronger over the fact that living things are valuable and should be cared. The text are also in that particular shape to stress out on the importance of the message.

Value = As you can see...the entire posterisnt mere 2d. Mother Earth isbrought forward as a way to show her importance as well as appealing. But she is place before the text, so that the viewers would be able to read the text. Animals and human are placed under the tonal position to show their similarities in terms of responsibilities to Mother Earth

Color = Most of the colors used are representational of real life things, such as baby skin, hair, goat, universe, light, ground, forest, and river. The wordings are in blue and green in order to show contrast, as well as abiding by the theme of Mother Earth. Besides that, the colors also depict the mood of peacefulness for easier message transfer to the audience.

Texture = A poster texture is mere flat to suit its practical needs.

Chapter 31 - Text Manipulation

Text manipulation time. By using the Text tool as well as the pen tool, i am able to create various shape i desire. Then by creating outlines, then color them with gradient tool.

Then the effects come in. Apply some effects such as svg and stylizations.

Finally voila rearrange them in a nice manner just as seen above, and we got the wordings.

On the note..color blue is used to show harmony as well as a contast and stand out from the universe color at the background.

At the below, a gradient of blue and green is used as representatives of jungle and rivers, as well as a standout besides the blue wordings.

And thus, now i am doing the wings. As you can see....the wings are actually combination of several 'feathers' recopied and repasted and resized and manipulated with effects in order to show the changes . Alot of effects are used here in order to show the angelic and holy mood..such a transparency, blurness, etc.

Taking the idea of universe, i tried to recreate a universe with a source of light as the center, where it will be used to attract people's attention to the middle. The things i used are...rectangle tool, life paint, flare tools, sprayer tools.

Mission Objectives
Raise awareness of the ignorant public over the dangers of Deforestation
on beautiful Mother Earth.
Raise awareness of the ignorant fools over their responsibilities to Mother
Earth
Raise awareness of the ignorant humans who cant even act out their responsibilities
while the animals carried theirs since the begining of time in contributing to Earth.

In assignment 1, a rough figure of a feminine person performing ballet, to show the
feminism values of Mother Earth as well as stressing over the analogy of the Earth as
a woman. Look how tarnished she is when tree are cut down, leaving her....bald.

In assignment 2, is a rough ideation over the fact that even with deforestation, Mother
Earth care for us and animals alike. That we are all actually a part of a family that create
the world.

In assignment 3, is a poster in an attempt to bring attention to the people over our responsibilities and to show that we are indeed...one...and therefore we should start caring for each other.

Intended Tools and Equipment needed for the Mission
1, Pen tool, live paint bucket, shapes, brush.
2, Copy/paste, symbols, sprayer, sprayer tools.
3, Gradient tool Linear and Radial, Flare tool.

Notices

While in the process of completing the poster aka mission, certain things i did put into consideration. Among them are the quality and the amount of tools used that contribute to its quality. Futhermore, the message that i intend to reach out to public must be clear, but not too clear or it would appear dull and not interesting. It must be something that attracts attention from a far, as well as potray Mother Earth as a beautiful Angel, and us humans as pathetic and useless but still cared by her. The hardest thing i experienced were the choice of colors, and the effects, since i had to do alot of experiments to get it done.

Base on my research on deforestation, more and more forest are being cleared up daily. DAILY FOLKS!!! THAT"S SERIOUS!!! If one would look at the ground from bird view..( Malaysia especially ) you will be shock to see how ugly our land really is. With all those holes and gaps...god bless us.

This is a view i saw when i was boarding an airplane long time ago. And that was 2 years ago, and it pained me to imagine how the ground looks right now. But this is only view from an airplane folks. Imagine looking at Mother Earth from outerspace!!! That would be a horrifying sight indeed.

Ever watch Wall-E? If readers to this have not; please watch it immediately. It gives a clearcut insight on the outcome of our Mother should deforestation continues.

Ultimately the skies would be dirty and difficult to breath, Earth would be hotter, and sandstorms would definitely become a norm every single corner of the world. There's no better movie to describe this then Wall-E, like they say pictures speak a thousand words...and thousand of words isn't enough to alert the people of this world on this horrible truth.

What wordings would be best to act as a shout out to the world i wondered. And after very much useless thinking, i couldnt find the answer. Finally i heard a very famous song from Michael Jackson, We Are The World. Voila..

Deforestation could be stop....and thus my 'slogan' would be

Since i am doing deforestation, thus of course i use my best friend the wikipedia to read of deforestation and its effects, thus...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deforestation

Motherhood and everything the best place to refer is of course, religion, thus i refered to some sections of the Bible and the Quran. I didnt read the entire book again of cuz, i just asked some friend's help to pinpoint me the right place to read.

In order to utilize the idea of Earth being divine, i figured to use wings or angelic wings. Thus i search for angel in again, my best friend....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels

Chapter 22 - Assignment 3, Poster

Yep, here comes the FINAL BOSS!!! Or rather the final boss for the first trilogy of Computer Graphics class in MMU!

Alright lets get to it. Here are the terms and conditions, and i'll try my best to follow all of them. Personally i feel the criterias are quite restrictive and slowing us down by alot, but oh well...a job is a job...

Assignment 3 – POSTER (20%)

Based on the symbol and the illustration, you are now required to design a poster to provide overall awareness on the area of your choice. The poster is to give an overall picture of the happenings and the effects of the area of choice.

The poster must be original and based on the research and assignments in the area of choice.
Students are to incorporate the design principles that were learnt in MDP class.
Requirements - ALL WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL!
(1) Based on the facts found in this research on what, why and how global warming is affecting our environment, students are to come up with a statement and brief description on the area of your choice in the context of global warming.
An example could be – “Melting of the polar ice-caps kills the penguins”. Based on this statement, provide a brief description on how this will take place or the effects if this happens.
(2) Then, create a poster to provide visualisation on this based on the statement and description. This is to provide awareness on the area of choice.
(3) The size of the image should be A3 size.
(4) The initial designs should be drawn on paper and later incorporate into the Illustrator software.
(5) You are to use the tools in Illustrator like the pen tool, basic colours, gradient colours, shapes to draw and all the tools that were taught to you this semester. You should also explore other tools & techniques available in Illustrator on your own and incorporate them into your design.
(6) The final outcome of the poster should be printed out and mounted onto a mounting board together with your statement and design brief explaining the statement. Use an appropriate mounting board (one side should contain the final output, while the other must contain the statement, brief and your name, ID and group)
(7) Class rules apply.
Criteria for marking for the poster:
(1) Creative and imaginative idea on your area in relation to global warming(2) The concept itself and the proof of concept which are the sketches, references and research.(3) Use of the tools - the proper and creative use of the tools(4) Design of the poster and the awareness your are creating based on the statement and area of choice.(5) Write-up and documentation must be in proper English.(6) Detail description of the process.(7) Quality of the printing and display.
Documentation – Blog (10%)
Students are to document the process of creating this poster using their blog as documentation. Please include the following:
(1) Include the RESEARCH you have done on the area of choice (add the web links)
(2) Include the idea behind the poster containing the statement, the brief and how does your idea visualise both the statement and the brief.
(3) Include designs, sketches, references or images that you use to create your posters
(4) Tools used. You are to EXPLAIN the tools that you used and learnt from the tutorials and EXPLORED. The description should include what tools were used, what was the setting used, why and how it was used in your poster. Be detailed on this and include screen shots.
Submission:
Date of Submission: Week 12 in tutorials to tutorial Group Leader.
Be as detailed as possible as this is the documentation on the process of developing your poster.
All class submission guidelines must be followed. Not following these requirements will mean a reduction in your marks in this exercise.
Any copying or similar images may result in the students getting an automatic "0" mark.

And we have ourselves, a Mother Earth, carrying a baby and a goat in her arms. Literally it means that the Earth is the creator of all living beings, and she care for them. The animals had always been known to contribute by stabilizing the ecosystem of MotherEarth from the beginning of time. Therefore, we, as human must play our part too in this scenario. Care for the MotherEarth just as she care for us.

Chapter 19 And She Rest Beneath The Starry Skies

With the starry skies, i manage to illustrate the background as the universe. However, to maintain its symbolism, i tried to achieve the 'twinkle twinkle little star' effect in order not to make it look TOO realistic. This is a symbological image anyways.

Nothing much regarding the method to do. By simply selecting the entire paper by creating a box bigger then it, i colored it like how it was seen above. Then i duplicated and reduplicated the star and added it into the symbol. By using the spraying tool i 'sprayed' the star around the background.

Chapter 18 Mother Earth....Gaia

I separated the creation of Mother Earth into two, to make it easier in the process of editing. I tried it the first time together and god it was so much of a hassle. Anyways, just as previously, i illustrated Earth as a Woman, and this time more motherly. I did this by putting more emphasis on the hair, it make it looked like the Earth is wearing a scarf made of trees. It can also be interpreted as a long motherly hair.

The brown lines are actually cracks of the ground, to make her look more ancient as well as adding the effect of earthy ground which is generally a mixture of several color. The blue are straight forward enough, showing the flow of rivers along the body of Mother Earth. The green, are greenery.

The technique i used are plainly brush tool. They made wonders. By adjusting the strokes as well as the thickness of it, i manage to illustrate the linings of the ground as well as the water.

To achieve the effect of the trees aka greenery, i randomly coloured a mixture of greenery to add the effect of multiple flora and fauna. By grouping it all into one, i made copies of it and rearrange it inorder to create the effects seen above.

Chapter 17 - Let's Begin! A Baby?!?! A Goat !?!?!?!

On the left is the drawing of a baby. Yeah i know it sucks. And i personally made it faceless, so that it shows mysterious, and it can be anyone in this world. As a matter of fact, it represents the human race on the face of the Earth, that is why i prefer it to be anonymous.

On the right is the goat. I chose a goat because it is pretty symbolic by itself towards the animals and blend in well with mother nature. I tried putting in a tiger or and elephant but for some reason it doesnt work that well. Hence i landed up with a goat instead. Suprisingly it brings out the motherhood demeanor well.

The techniques i used are basically the pen tool ( cant escape with this ) and by adding some colors and playing around with Gradient Tool and Mesh Tool ( Thanks to Chathra ).

VOILA!!! And hence i decided on this one. WHY?

Because the position of the mother seemed to be the most peaceful and graceful among all of them.

Because she is craddling both an animal and a human in her arms.

And it is the most symbolic of them all.

(I do not like the idea of refering to examples, as my dear good friend Elaine pointed out to me angrily...but...as a beginner in this line i have to learn my place first in the world. And knowing my own limits is the first step. I hope my viewers will understand this. )

Face it people, no other beings on Earth itself could illustrate motherhood better than Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.

So with this in mind, i set out searching for as many relevant pictures of Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ over the net. Do notice that i pick similar blue prints of the baby cuddling over the mother. This is a posture of motherly-love.

Does back to the main question; How shall i illustrate deforestation again? How do i illustrate Earth as a female? And in what way does it got to do with us - humans and the animals; in short, all living beings?

And thus, for this second assignment i intended to approach Deforestation topic in a more...positive manner. Instead of telling my audience to STOP DEFORESTATION, i intended to use another subtle approach of SAVE MOTHEREARTH, or CARE THE MOTHEREARTH!

After much thinking, i decided to design my picture base on these criterias:

Earth as a female - feminism
Earth as a mother - the bringer of life and care
A baby - a representative for humans
An animal - a representative for animal
Starry sky background - The universe, enhancing the effect of the Earth as a planet.

Back to the issue of deforestation, now for my second computer graphics assignment i am supposed to create another adobe illustrator image base on my topic.

But instead of a mere logo, i am supposed to make it in more detail manner, futher describing in detail the area of my choice as well as the item of my choice.

Chapter 11 Adobe Illustrator CS2 - Final Finishing Touches

Facing off with the last boss of the dungeon! Here are the finishing touches after the previous one. Do notice the color changes? Let me explain on the colors.

The green = refers to greenery, as in never ending forest full of trees.
The blue = refers to rivers and sea.
The light brown = refers to the desert, the wasteland, the leftovers of deforestation.
The darker brown with circles in it = refers to forest which had just recently being deforestated.

The meaning of this symbol i created is really simple. I illustrate the Earth as Gaia, or mother nature. So from a goddess; expected to be beautiful; turned ugly due to the process of deforestation. Through this process the beauty of mother Earth as seen above is tarnished and shud this continue; she would be totally destroyed and stripped off her beauty.

Chapter 10 Adobe Illustrator CS2 - PLEASE KILL ME NOW!!!

PLEASE KILL ME NOW!!! I screamed that the entire night. Yeah, i know i am insane. Heck i think most of the FCM's have turned mentally ill already. Anyways here comes the coloring, the hardest and the tedious part of the entire project. Well maybe its just due to my incompetence. As you can see, i use the brush tool to color it, along with the pain bucket. Its gonna be a shakespear's novel should i am going to describe every single process in detail, so i just give you the general idea. For the rest of the case, use your own imagination! For the photo on the left, it took me a bloody hell of 3 hours to reach it. I know its crazy, but well i had 3 retries to get it done.

AND FINALLY!!!! I done with the outline. My hand was shaking in happiness when i joined up the final lines. It took me 1 hour to do this, unincluded the previous 4 failures....YEP YOU READ IT RIGHT!!! This is my 5th attempt! This is the skeleton / stick figure maximized version along with its proper body proportions. Believe it or not...i spent 3 hours on this =,= Give me some break guys, this is my first 'humanoid' drawing ^^

TADAH!!!! This is it! The final preliminary drawing of my logo. It may not look much right now, but if i am able to utilize Adobe Illustrator CS2 in the future, i'll be sure to make it better and more 'wow' ing to see.

Thanks alot Angela! This is the notes that she gave me over our little discussion on human anatomy and ratios. We went very deep into the topic and she did the honor of sketching a brief preliminary drawing of a dancing figure for me.

The final problem was the posture. What posture would my 'human figure' be in to symbolize feminism? After hours of mindless and aimless thinking, i decided to watch The Gameplan movie by Dwayne The Rock Johnson. There was a ballet scene and i felt as if the thunder itself electrocuted my body. There it was - my answer! Ballet symbolize feminism! But what ballet posture symbolize graceful and presentable feminism? And so i searched across the net for postures, and i came across this one.

Chapter 4 Ideation of Ideas ( Video Game Saves The Day )

By using the concept of replacing the muscles into nature elements in the body of the human figure in the previous chapter, it reminded me of a very famous video game that i fortunately had the chance to play in the past. The game's title was God Of War 2; stationed during the time of the Greek Mythology. This very picture was taken from a screenshot of the game. The woman in the center was Gaia herself - high-graphic version. Do notice the placement of bird-view-nature elements on the parts of her body? That gave me an idea. This concept alone solved my dilema in combining the feminine outlook of a human body with the concept of mother nature.

Since i had decided to use a human figure in the process of doing the symbol, i decided to study on the muscle structure of the human body. Why do i do this? To tell all of you viewers the truth, i have no idea. I usually made it up as i go along... And i am please to say that by studying this picture i had a new idea. I intended to use the elements of Mother Earth nature as a replacement on those muscular lines.

At first i was searching across the history of signs and symbolism. I found out that the Earth itself was always represented with a female figure - hence the term 'Mother Earth'. These concept dated back all the way into begining of written language in ancient latin - that is the Greek Mythology. It was stated in there that Titanness Gaia represents Earth. Therefore i decided to represent the symbol of Earth in the form of a female.

This is a logo designed by my senior in his/her computer graphics. There is something about this logo that potrays femine value and i got attracted in his idea of manipulating shapes to form some sort of a 'shadow figure' of a human. A 'female' specifically.

Chapter 1 The Beginnings

Global warming is now one of the main issue discussed in every corner of the world. This occurence however had actually existed hundred of years beforehand. Some of causes of global warming includes overused of carbon monoxide, or the thining of the ozone layer due to Chloroflorocarbon; generated from the use of air-conditioners.

However there is one major cause beside all of that; one that started the occurence of global warming in the first place. This activity was held way back even during the time of the Mesolithic Period, and became even more prominent during the begining of civilization. The humans during those times were ignorant of the very fact that they were actually harming their very own mother Earth. The cause i am refering about is 'DEFORESTATION'.

The only difference between them in the past and us in the present is the tools we used and how large the scale of deforestation done. Thousands of years ago they were using axes and maces, but we are using our so-call-time-consuming-and-safe technology to do all the work. But if we look into it deeper, the truth is we're only leading to our own doom by relying on those technologies.

Nice to meet all of you humans...and any other type of intelligent beings who view me. I am Eddy Izuwan bin Musa, born in 1990 on the 5th day of August. So use your own mathematical calculation to guess my age alrite, i do not really enjoy mentioning it over here because it makes me feel old. =,=

I am currently an MMU Cyberjaya student in the Faculty Of Creative Multimedia, taking foundation course. It's is quite a long way from my dear hometown...sweet home malacca~~~ and this blog is actually my assignment, for those who are interested to view my artwork or anything else unrelated to my coursework, please refer to this ugly web of mine.
